Unfortunately, not everyone could make it down to The Hangout this weekend. Maybe you had a prior engagement like a wedding (and getting married on Hangout weekend is like getting married during football season… why would you do that to your friends???) or something like that. Birmingham Mountain Radio to the rescue! We are going for you… Geno, Dru, and Andy have selflessly given up their weekend and will be breaking into the regular BMR broadcast schedule (don't worry if you are fan of any of the specialty shows, they will air at their normal times) with interviews and special performances from artists performing at The Hangout. So, even though you could not make it, your good friends at BMR could, and we will keep you in the loop all weekend long!
Do Dah Day, one of Birmingham's oldest festivals is this Saturday! For over 30 years the 100% volunteer staff of Do Dah Day has thrown one of Birmingham's most exciting events to raise funds for animal shelters in the greater Birmingham area. One could even say that it really has gone to the dogs! Do Dah Day seems to get better each year, and you could not find a more family (and pet friendly) event. A parade down Highland Avenue at 11:01 a.m. leads to Caldwell and Rhodes park where the party kicks off at 12:01. The folks at Do Dah Day have thought of everything, including a Kid's Area (face painting, craft making with volunteers from the McWane Science Center, and more) all the way to watering stations for our four legged, no legged, and winged friends so that they can have just as a good time as their humans!
Throw in great food, drinks, and live music (including friends of Birmingham Mountain Radio and Do Dah Day headliners Luella and The Sun) and you have yourself quite a party! So make plans to attend Do Dah Day, Saturday May 18th (and don't forget Do Dah Eve the night before at Steel Lounge) and don't say no one told you!
You only have a few more days to catch The Wedding Singer, the musical adaptation of the movie starring Adam Sandler. The last performance is on 5/19 and you have waited long enough! Our friends at Red Mountain Theatre Company have put together this tribute to the 80s and we would hate for you to miss it! Go back and enjoy a decade were greed was good, hair was big, collars were up, and a wedding singer might be the coolest guy in the room. Buy your tickets using either one of the links above! The Wedding Singer, brought to you by Red Mountain Theatre Company and Birmingham Mountain Radio!
